I used Luke once before around 8 years ago for surveying some drains put in by builders - I had a superb service. So when our house recently had various issues (slow washing machine drainage/filling utility sink and intermittent sewer smells in the utility room) I knew who to call. Luke is brilliant at communications which is hugely refreshing in this day and age, replying to every message. He came round with the team , did some camera work and smoke testing and immediately found the issues - effectively the design of a few drains was incorrect leading to build ups of sewage in one manhole leading to the odours plus an incorrectly routed washing machine drain. He quoted for the mods which was extremely reasonable and he subsequently came with the team to do the mods at an agreeable date. Needless to say the mods have worked - no build up or odours and washing machine drains like a dream with no sink backfill. Luke is only interested in solving customer problems and he is like a dog with a bone in this sense. Some tradespeople are just after a quick buck - it's brilliant to find a company who want to gain a great reputation by doing great work. Highly recommended.

I called Urban Reactive to look at a blocked soil pipe with suspected root intrusion. Luke was able to give me a good idea of cost over the phone, and had a team out to me at my earliest convenience. The guys gave me lots of information about what they were looking at and talked me through how best to resolve it. It was all very transparent and informative and they went ahead and fixed the problem with a resin casing, and showed me a video on completion. Everything is working fine again within the day and I'll be sure to call them again if I have any other problems with my drainage system.

I never thought I’d need a ‘drain man’, but having bought an aging house that had stood empty for a while and was in need of refurbishment, I found I did. Luke and his team have kept my system going whilst preparing for the build. They are knowledgable, efficient and quickly responsive in an emergency. They will be my drain company of choice when I refurbish my home. If you need a go-to drain company, Urban-Reactive are the best! Highly recommended.

I cannot recommend Urban Reactive too highly. They delivered on time, to budget and to a really high standard, a new driveway at the front of my home. This required extensive works, including the removal of a large volume of concrete, new drainage and the creation of garden space. Everyone involved was truly a pleasure to deal with, unfailingly tidy, and very considerate. Having been recently widowed I was nervous about carrying out works alone - they made the process a pleasure.

I would not hesitate to use them again and recommend them to anyone else.

Sewer pipe blocked on 1st Jan and a well-known national company came out and jetted it but did not put a camera down and it blocked again days later. Insurance company sent another big company out who put a camera down, told me that the problem was tree roots but did not fix it. Urban-reactive came out, got rid of the roots and then came back a couple of weeks later to repair the pipe and raise manholes above the patio. Did a very nice job.

What is a Drain Survey in Ellesmere Port

A drainage inspection in Ellesmere Port involves examining your property’s wastewater system using specialised technology. Our team deploys high-resolution cameras directly into your pipes, providing real-time video footage that enables us to thoroughly assess the condition of your drains. This visual examination helps us pinpoint blockages, structural damage, or other problems affecting your system’s performance. Once we’ve completed the assessment, we’ll recommend the most effective repair or maintenance approach and carry out the necessary work on-site.

Why should My Drains be surveyed?

Why You Might Need a Drainage Survey

Even when it’s not strictly necessary, a CCTV drainage survey can prove invaluable in several situations.

Pre-Purchase Property Surveys

When you’re buying a property, a drainage survey reveals issues that standard building surveys simply won’t detect. Most chartered surveyors lack the specialist equipment and drainage expertise needed to properly assess underground pipework. Any problems we uncover—whether they involve collapsed sections, root ingress, or deteriorating pipework—can be used to renegotiate the purchase price or to ensure the vendor addresses repairs before completion.

Planning and Construction Work

For development projects, a pre-construction drainage survey is essential. We’ll map the exact location, depth, and condition of existing drains, allowing architects and builders to design around the infrastructure safely. This prevents costly accidents, such as excavating into a main sewer during groundworks.

Preventative Maintenance

At your current property, a survey can identify developing issues before they escalate into costly emergencies. We regularly identify early warning signs—partial root penetration, minor pipe displacement, fat buildup, or hairline cracks—that, if left unchecked, can lead to complete blockages, flooding, or even structural subsidence.

Common indicators include slow-draining fixtures, gurgling sounds, or unpleasant odours, but many serious defects develop silently underground until catastrophic failure occurs.

If you’re considering a drainage survey in Ellesmere Port, get in touch, and we’ll arrange an inspection at a time that suits you.

Our Drain Surveying in Ellesmere Port

Professional Drain Surveys in Ellesmere Port

For Property Buyers

Our drainage surveys are particularly valuable during the conveyancing process. We’ll conduct a thorough inspection before you exchange contracts to identify any defects—from cracked pipework and misaligned joints to root intrusion or structural collapse—that could cost you thousands in the long run. It’s due diligence that protects your investment.

For Existing Homeowners

Current property owners benefit enormously from periodic drainage assessments. Rather than waiting for a catastrophic blockage or sewage backup, a proactive survey allows us to spot deterioration early—whether that’s channelling, corrosion, or gradual displacement. Addressing minor faults now prevents emergency callouts and extensive excavation work later.

We provide competitively priced CCTV surveys carried out by fully qualified drainage engineers. You’ll receive a comprehensive report detailing the condition of your entire system, complete with timestamped footage, identified issues, and our professional recommendations. It’s straightforward, non-invasive, and gives you complete peace of mind about what’s happening beneath your property.

What equipment do we use when Drain Surveying in Ellesmere Port?

When scheduling a drain survey in Ellesmere Port, we use only the most advanced technology to ensure thorough completion. Below is a detailed overview of the equipment we utilise to achieve optimal results.

Waterproof cameras: We use advanced cameras that can operate underwater and in narrow spaces. This means we can get a clear view inside your drains and in spots that would normally be impossible to see, helping us do our job more effectively.

Crawlers: are remote-controlled cameras used to provide quick visual access to sewer systems. These cameras are well-suited to navigating obstructed pipes because of their high mobility.

Access rods: We push these cameras along your drainage system because they are very flexible. This makes tight turns and corners easy to navigate.

Sonar units: If a pipe has limited vision due to it being full, we use Sonar surveys to provide acoustic profiling. This gains an insight into the condition of the pipes.

What do we do? – The process

Our Drain Survey Process in Ellesmere Port

Whilst every drainage issue presents unique challenges, we follow a consistent methodology that ensures thorough, professional results every time.

Initial Contact

Get in touch by phone or online to book your survey. We’ll gather basic details about your property and any symptoms you’ve noticed—slow drainage, odours, or recurring blockages.

Site Attendance

We arrive at the agreed time with all the necessary equipment. Before we begin, we’ll discuss your concerns, identify access points, and explain exactly what the survey will involve. Our vans carry everything needed for a complete inspection.

CCTV Inspection

Our engineer will insert high-definition camera equipment into your drainage system via rodding eyes, inspection chambers, or—where necessary—toilets and gullies. We conduct a systematic survey of the entire network, recording footage as we progress through each section of pipework.

Findings Review

Once the survey’s complete, we’ll review the footage with you on-site and highlight any defects, blockages, or areas of concern. You’ll see exactly what we’ve found—whether that’s root ingress, fractured pipes, displaced joints, or heavy scale build-up.

Expert Recommendations

Based on our findings, we’ll outline the most appropriate solutions, from high-pressure jetting and descaling to patch lining or full excavation and replacement. Many clients opt for immediate remedial work, and we’re equipped to carry out most repairs the same day.

What is a drain survey in Ellesmere Port?

What Is a Drain Survey?

A drain survey is a comprehensive inspection of your property’s underground drainage network, carried out using specialist CCTV technology.

We deploy waterproof, high-resolution cameras mounted on flexible rods or crawler units, feeding them through your pipework to capture detailed footage of the internal condition. The live feed is displayed on our monitor in real time, allowing our engineer to assess pipe diameter, material type, joint integrity, and gradient, and identify any defects.

Our Ellesmere Port drainage surveys provide a complete diagnostic picture. Whether we’re examining a domestic system or commercial foul and surface water drains, the camera work reveals issues invisible from ground level: fractured sections, displaced joints, root penetration, scale deposits, structural deformation, or poorly executed repairs from previous work.

This visual evidence underpins our assessment and ensures that any recommendations we make are grounded in actual conditions rather than guesswork.
