I used Luke once before around 8 years ago for surveying some drains put in by builders - I had a superb service. So when our house recently had various issues (slow washing machine drainage/filling utility sink and intermittent sewer smells in the utility room) I knew who to call. Luke is brilliant at communications which is hugely refreshing in this day and age, replying to every message. He came round with the team , did some camera work and smoke testing and immediately found the issues - effectively the design of a few drains was incorrect leading to build ups of sewage in one manhole leading to the odours plus an incorrectly routed washing machine drain. He quoted for the mods which was extremely reasonable and he subsequently came with the team to do the mods at an agreeable date. Needless to say the mods have worked - no build up or odours and washing machine drains like a dream with no sink backfill. Luke is only interested in solving customer problems and he is like a dog with a bone in this sense. Some tradespeople are just after a quick buck - it's brilliant to find a company who want to gain a great reputation by doing great work. Highly recommended.

I called Urban Reactive to look at a blocked soil pipe with suspected root intrusion. Luke was able to give me a good idea of cost over the phone, and had a team out to me at my earliest convenience. The guys gave me lots of information about what they were looking at and talked me through how best to resolve it. It was all very transparent and informative and they went ahead and fixed the problem with a resin casing, and showed me a video on completion. Everything is working fine again within the day and I'll be sure to call them again if I have any other problems with my drainage system.

I never thought I’d need a ‘drain man’, but having bought an aging house that had stood empty for a while and was in need of refurbishment, I found I did. Luke and his team have kept my system going whilst preparing for the build. They are knowledgable, efficient and quickly responsive in an emergency. They will be my drain company of choice when I refurbish my home. If you need a go-to drain company, Urban-Reactive are the best! Highly recommended.

I cannot recommend Urban Reactive too highly. They delivered on time, to budget and to a really high standard, a new driveway at the front of my home. This required extensive works, including the removal of a large volume of concrete, new drainage and the creation of garden space. Everyone involved was truly a pleasure to deal with, unfailingly tidy, and very considerate. Having been recently widowed I was nervous about carrying out works alone - they made the process a pleasure.

I would not hesitate to use them again and recommend them to anyone else.

Sewer pipe blocked on 1st Jan and a well-known national company came out and jetted it but did not put a camera down and it blocked again days later. Insurance company sent another big company out who put a camera down, told me that the problem was tree roots but did not fix it. Urban-reactive came out, got rid of the roots and then came back a couple of weeks later to repair the pipe and raise manholes above the patio. Did a very nice job.

Drain Repairs in Runcorn

Drain repair in Runcorn is essential if you’re noticing ongoing drainage problems that can’t be resolved with routine unblocking. Collapsed or structurally damaged drains need to be addressed promptly by a drainage expert to prevent further disruption and escalating repair costs.

When a drain has collapsed or suffered serious damage, standard unblocking methods are no longer effective. Left untreated, the problem can quickly turn into a major and costly headache. Using CCTV drain surveys, we can accurately identify the cause of the issue before carrying out professional drain repairs to restore your drainage system to full working order.

How we do Drain Repairs in Runcorn?

We approach each issue uniquely, but we always have a solution and address it effectively. Our drain repair services in Runcorn are affordable and reliable. Here are some ways we can assist you:

Drain patch repairs

When carrying out drain repairs in Runcorn, patch repairs are often used where a pipe has cracked but remains structurally sound. This method allows the repair to be completed from inside the drain, which helps keep disruption to a minimum. Using specialist equipment, we install a repair patch that seals the damaged area, reinforces the pipe, and reduces the risk of further deterioration. Patch repairs are suitable for all common pipe sizes and diameters.

No-dig and trenchless drain repair

Many homeowners and businesses delay drain repairs to avoid mess and disruption. Unfortunately, leaving the issue untreated often leads to more damage and higher repair costs. With modern no-dig and trenchless repair methods, drains can be repaired internally without excavation or pipe exposure. This approach allows work to be carried out efficiently and often avoids the need for more invasive drain repairs.

Full drain repair

In some cases, a full drain repair may be required, which can involve excavating the damaged section of pipe. When excavation is necessary, the work is carefully planned and carried out as efficiently as possible. The best approach is always discussed with you beforehand so you know exactly what to expect.

Our engineers are fully trained and experienced in all types of drain repair. Even when excavation is required, the priority is to complete the work with minimal disruption while properly restoring your drainage system. Where appropriate, planned drainage maintenance services can also help reduce the risk of future issues.

What causes a Drain to Collapse?

When doing Drain Repairs in Runcorn. We have encountered multiple collapsed drains, and numerous factors can cause them. But most commonly, it is due to constant blockages in the pipes. This causes the ground to flood with water and puts pressure on the drainage system, which therefore collapses the drain. Other reasons include:

Ground Movement:

Ground movements can sometimes be unavoidable. When they occur near pipes, the pressure exerted can crush or collapse the pipework. Additionally, tree roots can impact your pipes. While avoiding root intrusion is generally straightforward since roots need to grow around pipes, if they do, they might invade, interfere with, or even crush the pipes.

wear and tear

Yes, your drains can collapse on their own. If your piping is old and under stress, it’s very likely to have failed due to material degradation.

How do you know if a drain has collapsed?

You can identify a collapsed drain if any of these issues are present. A collapsed drain can significantly hinder water and sewage drainage, leading to poor drainage and indicating you need a Drain Repair in Runcorn. Signs of a damaged drain include:

Dampness

A damaged or collapsed drain can put additional pressure on the pipes that carry waste and wastewater. If a pipe starts leaking, or the collapse sits beneath the property, you may notice new damp patches or mould appearing indoors. It is also worth checking garages and outbuildings, as drains often run beneath them too.

Slow Drainage

Slow-draining sinks, showers, or baths can be an early sign that you need a drain repair in Runcorn. If water is taking longer than usual to clear, it may be more than a simple blockage. Using a CCTV drain survey, we can check whether it is a one-off issue or something more serious like a collapsed section of pipe.

Strong Smell of Sewage

A strong sewage smell in or around your home often indicates a damaged pipe or a collapsed drain. In some cases, it can be caused by a blockage, which is usually straightforward to clear. However, if the drain has collapsed, the problem will not go away on its own and needs to be fixed quickly to prevent further damage.

Backed-Up Sewers or Regular Blockages

When a drain collapses, wastewater cannot flow through properly and begins to back up. If you are dealing with repeated blockages or sewage backing up, it usually means there is structural damage to the drain. A CCTV inspection will confirm the cause so you know exactly what needs to be done, rather than guessing.

How much does it cost to repair a drain in Runcorn?

The cost of a drain repair depends on the type of issue and the extent of the damage. For example, a fully collapsed drain will usually cost more to fix than a cracked or damaged pipe. We aim to offer fair, competitive pricing on all drain repair work, focusing on resolving the problem properly rather than applying temporary fixes.

The easiest way to determine the cost of a drain repair in Runcorn is to get in touch. We can arrange CCTV drain surveys to quickly identify the issue and then provide a clear quote based on what’s required. If repairs are needed, our team can move straight into professional drain repairs without unnecessary delays.

We can repair most drains in Runcorn from your manhole.

Most drain repairs in Runcorn are carried out using trenchless, cured-in-place drain lining. This modern method allows us to repair full pipe runs or localised damaged sections without the need for disruptive digging. Resin-cured lining is installed through existing inspection chambers, helping keep costs down and minimising disruption to your property.

In many cases, this approach removes the need for excavation altogether. Where lining isn’t suitable, we can move straight into professional drain repairs to resolve the issue properly. Ongoing problems can also be reduced with planned drainage maintenance services, helping to prevent future damage.

How do you fix a broken drain in Runcorn?

Depending on the problem, only the affected section of the drain will be replaced, with the root cause dealt with where necessary.

Collapsed drains are most often caused by tree root intrusion or corrosion within the pipework. Before any replacement, the underlying issue is addressed to reduce the risk of the same problem recurring. Other, less common causes may also be identified during inspection.

If the issue is a leaking drain pipe, the damaged section is removed and replaced with new pipework, resolving the problem immediately and restoring proper flow.

All of these faults are identified through a full drain survey in Runcorn using advanced CCTV inspection equipment. This allows the issue to be located accurately and, in most cases, repaired within the same day.
