I used Luke once before around 8 years ago for surveying some drains put in by builders - I had a superb service. So when our house recently had various issues (slow washing machine drainage/filling utility sink and intermittent sewer smells in the utility room) I knew who to call. Luke is brilliant at communications which is hugely refreshing in this day and age, replying to every message. He came round with the team , did some camera work and smoke testing and immediately found the issues - effectively the design of a few drains was incorrect leading to build ups of sewage in one manhole leading to the odours plus an incorrectly routed washing machine drain. He quoted for the mods which was extremely reasonable and he subsequently came with the team to do the mods at an agreeable date. Needless to say the mods have worked - no build up or odours and washing machine drains like a dream with no sink backfill. Luke is only interested in solving customer problems and he is like a dog with a bone in this sense. Some tradespeople are just after a quick buck - it's brilliant to find a company who want to gain a great reputation by doing great work. Highly recommended.

I called Urban Reactive to look at a blocked soil pipe with suspected root intrusion. Luke was able to give me a good idea of cost over the phone, and had a team out to me at my earliest convenience. The guys gave me lots of information about what they were looking at and talked me through how best to resolve it. It was all very transparent and informative and they went ahead and fixed the problem with a resin casing, and showed me a video on completion. Everything is working fine again within the day and I'll be sure to call them again if I have any other problems with my drainage system.

I never thought I’d need a ‘drain man’, but having bought an aging house that had stood empty for a while and was in need of refurbishment, I found I did. Luke and his team have kept my system going whilst preparing for the build. They are knowledgable, efficient and quickly responsive in an emergency. They will be my drain company of choice when I refurbish my home. If you need a go-to drain company, Urban-Reactive are the best! Highly recommended.

I cannot recommend Urban Reactive too highly. They delivered on time, to budget and to a really high standard, a new driveway at the front of my home. This required extensive works, including the removal of a large volume of concrete, new drainage and the creation of garden space. Everyone involved was truly a pleasure to deal with, unfailingly tidy, and very considerate. Having been recently widowed I was nervous about carrying out works alone - they made the process a pleasure.

Sewer pipe blocked on 1st Jan and a well-known national company came out and jetted it but did not put a camera down and it blocked again days later. Insurance company sent another big company out who put a camera down, told me that the problem was tree roots but did not fix it. Urban-reactive came out, got rid of the roots and then came back a couple of weeks later to repair the pipe and raise manholes above the patio. Did a very nice job.

Drain Repairs in Aldford Chester

Drain repair in Aldford, Chester, is essential if you’re experiencing ongoing drainage problems that can’t be resolved with simple unblocking. Collapsed or structurally damaged drains need to be addressed promptly by a drainage expert to prevent further disruption.

When a drain has collapsed or suffered serious damage, standard unblocking methods are no longer effective. Left untreated, a collapsed drain can quickly lead to costly repairs and wider problems around the property. Using CCTV drain surveys, we can identify the exact cause of the issue before carrying out professional drain repairs to restore your drainage system properly.

In some cases, ongoing problems can be reduced through planned drainage maintenance services, helping prevent future failures and unexpected repair work.

How we do Drain Repairs in Aldford Chester?

Drain patch repairs

When carrying out drain repairs in Aldford, Chester, patch repairs are often used where a pipe has cracked but remains structurally sound. This method allows the repair to be completed from within the drain, minimising disruption. Using specialist equipment, we install a repair patch that seals the damaged area, reinforces the pipe, and helps prevent further deterioration. Patch repairs are suitable for all common pipe diameters and are usually identified during CCTV drain surveys.

No-dig and trenchless drain repair

Many homeowners and businesses delay drain repairs to avoid the mess and disruption. Unfortunately, leaving the issue untreated often leads to greater damage and higher costs. With modern no-dig and trenchless repair methods, we can repair drains internally without excavating or exposing the pipe. Live camera inspection enables us to assess damage from within and carry out professional drain repairs efficiently, with minimal impact on your property.

Full drain repair

In some cases, a full drain repair may be required, which can involve excavating the damaged section of pipe. When excavation is necessary, the work is carefully planned and carried out as efficiently as possible. The best approach is always discussed with you beforehand so you know exactly what to expect.

Our engineers are fully trained and experienced in all types of drain repair. Even when excavation is required, the priority is to complete the work with minimal disruption while properly restoring your drainage system. In some situations, ongoing issues can also be reduced with planned drainage maintenance services to help prevent future problems.

Many drainage problems are first diagnosed using CCTV drain surveys, which allow us to see exactly what’s happening inside the pipework. Ongoing issues can also be reduced with regular drainage maintenance services, helping to prevent repeat blockages. Where structural damage is found, we can move straight into professional drain repairs.

What causes a Drain to Collapse?

When carrying out drain repairs in Aldford, Chester, we’ve encountered many collapsed drains, and there are several reasons they fail. The most common cause is repeated blockages within the pipework. Over time, trapped water builds up in the surrounding ground, increasing pressure on the drainage system until the drain eventually collapses.

In many cases, these issues are first identified during CCTV drain surveys, which allow us to pinpoint the exact cause of the failure before starting professional drain repairs. Other causes of collapsed drains include:

Ground movement is sometimes unavoidable, particularly around older properties. When the ground shifts around buried pipework, pressure can build up and cause drains to crack or fully collapse. Tree roots can also play a part. While roots usually grow around pipes, they can force their way into weak spots, restricting flow and, over time, damaging or crushing the pipe. Problems like this are often picked up early during CCTV drain surveys, before more serious damage occurs.

Wear and tear

Drains can also collapse naturally over time. Older pipework under constant stress can weaken as materials degrade, eventually leading to cracks or complete failure. In these situations, timely professional drain repairs are essential to restore the drainage system and prevent further issues.

How do you know if a drain has collapsed?

You can usually spot a collapsed drain once a few clear problems start to appear. When a drain collapses, it can no longer properly move water and sewage away from your property. This leads to slow drainage and ongoing issues that will not resolve on their own.

If these warning signs are present, it is often a strong indication that a drain repair is needed in Aldford, Chester. In most cases, the first step is identifying exactly where the damage is and how severe it is.

Common signs of a damaged or collapsed drain include:

Dampness

A damaged drain can put extra pressure on the pipes carrying waste and wastewater. If a pipe starts leaking or a section of the drain collapses beneath the property, you may notice damp patches or mould forming inside the home. It is also worth checking garages and outbuildings, as drainage pipes often run beneath them too.

Slow drainage

Slow drainage is one of the most common signs of an underlying drainage issue. You might notice water taking longer than usual to empty from sinks, showers, or baths. When this keeps happening, it can point to more than just a simple blockage. A closer inspection helps determine whether it is a one-off obstruction or something more serious, such as a collapsed section of pipe.

Strong smell of sewage

A collapsed drain or damaged pipe will often produce a strong sewage smell. This can be noticeable both inside and outside the property. While some smells are caused by temporary blockages, persistent odours usually indicate damage that needs attention sooner rather than later.

Backed-up drains and regular blockages

When a drain collapses, wastewater cannot flow through properly and starts backing up. If blockages are happening repeatedly, it is often a sign of structural damage within the pipework. Identifying the exact cause early helps prevent further disruption and more costly repairs down the line.

How much does it cost to repair a drain in Aldford Chester?

The cost of a drain repair depends on the type of issue and the extent of the damage. For example, a fully collapsed drain will usually cost more to fix than a cracked or damaged pipe. We aim to provide clear, competitive pricing for all drain repair work, focusing on long-term results rather than short-term fixes.

The easiest way to determine the cost of a drain repair in Bebington is to get in touch. We can arrange CCTV drain surveys to quickly identify the problem and then provide an accurate quote based on what’s actually required. Where structural damage is confirmed, our team can move straight into professional drain repairs without unnecessary delays.

We can repair most drains in Aldford Chester from your manhole.

We carry out most drain repairs in Aldford, Chester, using trenchless cured-in-place drain lining methods. Using our latest technology, we can mend entire lengths or localised sections of the damaged drainage system. We’ll install resin-cured lining in your inspection chambers. This means there is no need for costly excavation works.

How do you fix a broken drain in Aldford Chester?

Depending on the issue, the damaged section of the drain may need to be replaced, along with addressing the underlying cause where necessary.

Collapsed drains are most commonly caused by tree root intrusion or long-term corrosion. In these cases, the source of the problem is addressed before replacing the affected section of pipework. Other, less common causes are outlined above.

If the issue is a leaking drain pipe, the damaged section is removed and replaced with a new one, resolving the problem straight away.

All of these issues can be quickly identified through a thorough drain survey in Bebington, conducted with advanced CCTV inspection equipment. This allows us to pinpoint the fault accurately and, in most cases, complete the repair on the same day.
